GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Appleton native Megan Gossens has been named the Assistant Athletics Director for Development, Green Bay Director of Athletics Ken Bothof announced Tuesday. Bothof also announced the hiring of Lauren Lepkowski as the department's Director of Athletics Special Events.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Megan and Lauren to our department," said Bothof. "I know our fans, ticket holders and donors will enjoy getting to know these two new members of our team.

"Megan brings a wealth of college athletics experience and a passion for helping student-athletes. She is excited to be back working in Northeast Wisconsin and her knowledge of our community and college athletics development will be valuable assets to Green Bay Athletics and the Phoenix Fund."

Gossens returns to college athletics after working for the past nine months in community relations for the American Cancer Society in Green Bay. While with the American Cancer Society, Gossens managed fundraising events including the Sole Burner 5K Walk/Run, Determination: Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, America's Birthday Run 5K and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

The Appleton native graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and earned a master's degree in sport science/sport administration from the University of Akron in December 2010.

"I am thrilled about the opportunity to work for Green Bay Athletics and the Phoenix Fund," said Gossens. "I'm thankful to Ken Bothof and the search committee for this opportunity, and I could not be more excited for the chance to work with an athletics department in a community that means so much to me. I look forward to getting to know fans and donors and teaming up to help our Phoenix student-athletes and programs to succeed both academically and athletically."

Gossens has eight years of prior experience in college athletics, including a three-year stint at Akron serving as the Director of the Z-Fund from 2008- 2011. She oversaw all aspects of Z-Fund member events while maintaining a donor portfolio of 150 prospects. Gossens also served as the liaison between the Varsity A Association and the athletics department while sitting on the association's executive board.

From 2005- 2008, Gossens worked as a program assistant in the University of Wisconsin Football Office, planning and organizing fundraising and social events for members of the football booster club, handling all autograph and community requests and organizing bowl game travel for donors. Gossens started at Wisconsin as an intern in the athletics ticket office in 2004-05.

Lepkowski comes to Green Bay after spending the past five years working at Michigan State University. She has worked since June 2011 as an alumni relations coordinator for the Michigan State College of Communication Arts and Sciences. In that role, Lepkowski served as the lead coordinator for 20 events annually and directed a volunteer board composed of alumni and donors.

Lepkowski graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication from Michigan State in May 2011. During her time as an undergraduate student, Lepkowski worked as a courtside hospitality supervisor for basketball and as an office assistant for the Spartan Fund in the athletic development department.

"I am incredibly excited to join the Green Bay Phoenix as the Director of Athletics Special Events," said Lepkowski. "I look forward to beginning my first season in Green Bay with a running start this September and will be working to showcase the university's athletics events and the Phoenix Fund."
