The Green Bay volleyball team is committed to being an integral part of the Green Bay community and has proven its commitment time and time again during head coach Debbie Kirch's tenure. The squad annually participates in the Phuture Phoenix Program, Phoenix Fan Fest and Kids Night Out, and also spends countless hours at local schools and community centers. In addition, the Phoenix has been dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and funds for many years. Through her work with several different cancer initiatives, Kirch inspired the Green Bay Compete to Beat Fund, which debuted in 2009 and brings a department-wide program that raises money to help support the needs of local patients and families battling with breast cancer. The volleyball team's dedication to northeast Wisconsin has not gone unnoticed. In 2004, the Green Bay volleyball team received the Horizon League's Community Outreach Award given to the conference's athletics team that best represented its community off the court. In addition, since the 2004 season, two Phoenix volleyball players, Janelle Tomlinson and Rochelle Meulemans earned the Horizon League's Cecil N. Coleman Medal of Honor for their work on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
