GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - For the third consecutive season, the Green Bay (2-7-2, 0-2-1 HL) men's soccer game against the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (4-4-2, 0-0-2 HL) went into double overtime, only the result was a 2-2 tie Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Aldo Santaga Stadium. The contest was also the annual battle for rights to the Chancellor's Cup.

"It's disappointing to come away with a tie but we finally got some points on the board in the Horizon League standings," said senior goalkeeper Ryan Wehking (St. Louis, Mo.) who finished with six saves in the contest. "Everything is up for grabs, every team is really close and we just have to show up every day ready to play hard against good teams."

Green Bay led 1-0 at the half after Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.) found senior Whitney Browne (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) on the left side of the box on a long serve for the header goal late in the 30th minute. The goal was Browne's first with the Phoenix.

"I had a couple of chances earlier in the game but just couldn't put it away," Browne said. "I was actually surprised I scored it off my head considering I'm not really good in the air but I'll take the goal."

Milwaukee edged Green Bay 8-6 on shots in the first period with Browne leading all players with three.

Green Bay built a 2-0 cushion in the 49th minute when Alonso Flores (Chicago, Ill.) took the free kick on the right side. Flores found Defrim Ramushevski (South Milwaukee, Wis.) in the lower left corner of the box for his first collegiate career goal.

"Words can't explain the excitement. I haven't scored a goal since high school," said Ramushevski. "To do it against Milwaukee just leaves me with goose bumps; I'm speechless."

Exactly five minutes after Green Bay established a 2-0 lead, Milwaukee cut the lead in half when Patrick Ruhland scored an unassisted goal from the left side of the box.

"I was screened a little bit and didn't see the ball until the last second, it skipped on me and I still felt like I could've got a hand on it at the last second," Wehking said.

Milwaukee later tied the contest in the 76th minute off a free kick from Laure Bell on the far left outside the box.

"I didn't expect it, he hit a canon, but at the end of the day you have to give credit to him, he had a great shot," said Wehking.

The Panthers, who lead the league in shots, outshot the Phoenix 16-7 in the second period and 24-13 in regulation. In the first overtime period, Milwaukee outshot Green Bay 4-1 while Wehking made one save, forcing double overtime for the third consecutive season.

Though Milwaukee outshot the Phoenix 6-4 in the second overtime, Green Bay had three shot attempts in a matter of seconds within the final three minutes but was unable to convert after unbelievable saves by Panther goalie John Shakon.

"It's a bit tough, we would've liked to get the cup back but we'll take the positives from this," Wehking said. "We're just going to keep building on this and not lose focus. We're going to make the tournament and we're going to make some noise."

Milwaukee finished the game outshooting Green Bay 34-18 and 7-1 on corner kicks while both keepers finished with six saves each. Ahmad Bah (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), Browne and Flores led Green Bay with four shots each while Krenzien added two.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE...Green Bay will play its next three games on the road beginning at Valpo Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The Phoenix will then have a week to prepare for its trip to Loyola Oct. 13 before wrapping up its road contest at Wisconsin Oct. 17.
