– Competing in a field of more than 1,200 runners, the Green Bay men’s and women’s cross country teams ran against some of the best collegiate cross country programs at Friday’s 58th-annual Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Ind. The women’s side was led by sophomore Sarah Mauel (Green Bay, Wis.), while sophomore Dalton Woodworth (Sparta, Wis.) paced the men’s side.

Both teams competed in the gold division, with the women’s program coming in 25th place while the men’s squad finished 21st. Southern Illinois and Grand Valley State took the women’s and men’s gold division titles, respectfully.

Mauel finished the women’s 5K in a time of 18:59, finishing in 70th place. Freshman Breanna Seuss (Luxemburg, Wis.) crossed the finish line less than a minute later, taking 139th place in a time of 19:48.

Woodworth continued his impressive season with a time of 27:28 in the men’s 5-mile race, taking 107th place. Senior Alexander Kimble (Green Bay, Wis.) finished five seconds later to take 113th place in a time of 27:33, while freshman Eric Bilitz (Fond du Lac, Wis.)  took 158th place in a time of 28:39.

Both squads will have next week off before returning to action at the Bradley Classic on Oct. 18 in Peoria, Ill.
