Hartmann Collects Horizon League Weekly Honors
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After scoring two goals in two games for the Green Bay women’s soccer team, junior Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) has been named Horizon League Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Hartmann scored twice in Friday’s 3-1 win over IUPUI in the season-opener, including the second goal of the game which proved to be the game winner. The junior was a force all evening at the top of the Green Bay attack, notching goals at 8:14 of the first half and 69:03 of the second half, as the visiting Jaguars couldn’t contend with the speed and skill of Hartmann.
“I am thrilled for Heidi as she gets recognition as all her hard work in preparation for the season begins to show. This is only the beginning, as she has the character to contribute in whatever capacity the team needs and I know she will only continue to work and grow as the season continues,” head coach Kacey Burke said.
The forward converted the penalty shot in the second half and the put the score at 3-1 and out of reach for the visitors. Hartmann played 87 minutes in the match against IUPUI and logged another 80 minutes against Ball State on Sunday.
The Phoenix will return to action Friday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. at home against Northern Iowa.
