Jeannette Waldo Named Green Bay Volleyball Assistant Coach
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – First-year Green Bay volleyball head coach Sean Burdette has announced the hiring of Jeannette Waldo as the program’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Waldo spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Belmont University.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Jeannette Waldo to my staff,” Burdette said. “In just two years at Belmont, Jeannette’s hard work in recruiting has paid dividends. Seeing her first-hand on the road recruiting and from talking to her peers, I know that she is not only a great identifier of talent, but she is also very strong at forming connections and building relationships with prospective student-athletes.
“Jeannette’s energy on and off the court fit perfectly with our program. Her roles on the court will be to work with our outside hitters, liberos and backcourt specialists, as well as coordinate our defensive systems.”
Waldo aided Belmont to a 19-14 overall record in 2013, including an impressive 12-4 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. She also assisted the Bruins to an OVC tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth in 2012.
Before taking the job at Belmont, Waldo spent a year as an assistant at the University of Minnesota, where she worked with the 2010 Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year and helped the Gophers advance to the NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2011.
Prior to joining the Gophers, Waldo was an assistant coach at Benedictine College from 2008-11. She also served as the head coach of the junior varsity team at Benedictine College. During her time with the Ravens, she helped the program finish second in the Heart of America conference. While Waldo was with Benedictine, she served as head coach for a year with Team KC Volleyball Club.
She also led the Sandshark Volleyball Club to victory in the Won Gold Heart Challenge, and top finishes in the Power League and Omaha National Qualifier.
A native of Topeka, Kansas, Waldo was the defensive specialist for William Jewell College from 2002-06, where she served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
Waldo will help guide a Phoenix squad that went 14-14 overall and 9-5 in Horizon League play in 2013. Green Bay’s roster contains a talented group of returnees, including three postseason award-winners, as well as six incoming freshmen.
