Junior Hailey Mohrfeld (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) got things started with a leadoff double to left center and one batter later looked to be caught out on a fielder’s choice hit by sophomore Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis.), but the UWP pitcher threw long of third base, allowing Mohrfeld to score. The Phoenix tacked on four more in the bottom of the second, pushing the lead to 12-0. Facing new UWP pitcher Kristin Kleinmeyer, Reinke led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on an infield single by Stacey Butts. Later in the inning with the bases loaded and one out, Hutchinson added a two-RBI single to left before Mohrfeld recorded her second RBI single of the game to bring the Phoenix lead to 12-0.before scoring on a single down the left field line by

UW-Parkside got two unearned runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Kira Cooper led off with a double and then scored as Colleen Cummings reached on a fielder’s choice while the Phoenix attempted to catch Cooper out at third. Kalli Gosser then singled to right center to bring Cummings home and put the Rangers ahead, 2-0.
However, Green Bay got both of those runs plus one back in the home half of the first to take back the lead. Junior Hailey Mohrfeld (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) led off with a double to center, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Briana Cavin (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and scored as sophomore Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis.) singled to left.
