Women's Soccer Plays Final Regular Season Match at Valpo
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s soccer team will play its final match of the 2013 regular season on Friday, traveling to Valparaiso for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
Green Bay leads the all-time series against the Crusaders, 8-4-3.
The Phoenix enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-8-4 and a 1-5-0 mark in the Horizon League. The team went winless in the month of October, and has not won a match since it opened its conference slate with a 2-0 triumph over Oakland on September 27.
Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) and Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) continue to lead the Phoenix with seven points on two goals and three assists while Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) has a team-best three goals.
Valpo is an impressive 7-1-1 at home this season, losing to then-ranked Miami (Ohio) on August 25 while drawing even with Wright State on October 12.
Jenny Fassbinder leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist. Hailey Chmela and Jordyn Ryfiak are tied for the team lead with two assists apiece. In net, Kristen Manski has been the mainstay, playing every minute of all 16 matches while recording a 0.78 goals-against average and a .843 save percentage.
