Phoenix Fan Fest Highlights Busy Home Weekend
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay Athletics will be hosting the annual Phoenix Fan Fest presented by Culver’s from noon-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Kress Events Center, highlighting a busy home weekend which includes two volleyball matches, swimming and diving, men’s soccer and men’s and women’s basketball. Kids who attend Fan Fest get a free ticket to any of Saturday’s home events.
The annual Fan Fest event is free to attend and will include numerous activities, highlighted by inflatables, face painting, balloons, games, an appearance from Phlash the Phoenix and the opportunity to play sports and get autographs from your favorite Green Bay student-athletes.
The busy home weekend will get underway with the volleyball team hosting UIC on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Head coach Michaela Franklin’s squad is 5-4 in Horizon League play and will also host Valparaiso on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Swimming and diving and women’s basketball will also be in action in the Kress Events Center on Saturday. Head coach Jim Merner’s swimming and diving teams will host its first home meet of the season, welcoming South Dakota State to Dorschel Natatorium at noon. The Phoenix women’s basketball squad plays its second and final exhibition game at 1 p.m. when Northern Michigan visits the Kress.
Out at Aldo Santaga Stadium at 1 p.m., the men’s soccer team will hold Senior Day for its 2013 home finale, hosting Oakland. Head coach Dan Popik’s team is 7-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in league play with two regular season contests to play.
On Sunday, the Green Bay men’s basketball team will hold its only exhibition game of the season at the Resch Center, playing Viterbo at 1 p.m.
