GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - On Friday night in Valparaiso, Ind., Green Bay and UIC will square off for the third time in 2012-13, meeting in the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals at the Athletics and Recreation Center at Valparaiso. The Phoenix and the Flames will meet in the night's second quarterfinal, set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The Phoenix advanced to the quarterfinals with a 62-46 win over Milwaukee on Tuesday night at the Resch Center. Junior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) led Green Bay with 18 points while freshman Jordan Fouse (Racine, Wis.) posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Tickets can be purchased for Friday and Saturday by visiting ValpoAthletics.com, calling 219-464-5233 or by visiting the Valparaiso University Ticket Office, located in the main lobby of the ARC (extended hours of 10 a.m.-7 p.m. this week).  Tickets for Friday's pair of second-round games are $10 general admission seating for the session, while groups of 10 or more are $7 each and Horizon League students are free with their student ID.

Green Bay and UIC split two closely contested regular season meetings, with the Phoenix winning 53-47 on Jan. 12 at the Resch Center and the Flames posting a 60-57 victory in Chicago on Jan. 31. Brown scored 21 points in the home win while Sykes registered 18 points in the road game.

The game will be broadcast live on the Horizon League Network and on ESPN3 with Jim Barbar (play-by-play), David Kaplan (color analyst) and Will Haskett (sideline) on the call.

Team Notes

• Green Bay won its first Horizon League tournament game since beating Youngstown State 81-67 on March 2, 2010.
• The Phoenix improved to 12-3 at the Resch Center this season and 34-9 in the past three seasons.
• Green Bay committed just eight turnovers on Tuesday, with no Phoenix player being charged for more than one miscue. Three of the eight turnovers were offensive fouls.
• Milwaukee's 26.5 percent shooting and 15 field goals made were both season lows for a Division I opponent.
• With eight blocks on Tuesday, Green Bay now has a school-record 151 on the season. The eight blocks were one shy of the Horizon League Tournament record.
• Green Bay improved to 14-0 this season when holding opponents below 60 points.
• Milwaukee was the fifth Phoenix opponent this season to fail to reach 50 points, the first time since 2000-01 that at least five opponents have been held in the forties.
• In 17 games against Horizon League opponents, Green Bay has outrebounded its opponent 15 times.

Individual Notes

• Sophomore Keifer Sykes has connected on 150-of-181 free throws this season, including making 40 of his last 43.
• With an 8-of-8 effort on Tuesday night, Sykes broke the Green Bay Division I record for free throws made in a season and is one shy of Ron Ripley's school record of 151 set in 1978-79.
• Sykes scored 12 of his 16 points after halftime and has scored 82 of his 111 points in the second half in the past six games against league opponents.
• The sophomore point guard had five assists on Tuesday and has led the Phoenix in assist in 23 of the past 24 games.
• Junior Alec Brown continued his season dominance of Milwaukee, scoring a game-high 18 points on Tuesday. Brown scored 69 points in the three-game sweep of the Panthers.
• Brown has reached double figures 62 times in his career, including 21 times this season.
• The 7-foot-1 junior blocked two shots on Tuesday and now has 57 on the season and 213 for his career.
• Brown knocked down two three-pointers against Milwaukee and is eight of his last 13 from long range. After making six threes in his first two seasons, Brown is 31-of-83 from beyond the arc.
• Freshman Jordan Fouse had his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
• Fouse has led the team in rebounding in 18 games this season and has grabbed 10 or more boards in eight games. He has had five or more rebounds in 16-straight games.
• The league leader in rebounding (7.7), Fouse has extended his freshman record of rebounds in a season to 239.
• The 6-foot-7 freshman added three steals and three blocked shots, increasing his season totals to 55 steals and 46 blocks.
• Fouse's 55 steals are a freshman record and tied for the sixth-best single-season total in program history.
• The freshman's 46 blocks are the sixth-most in school history for a single season, behind only three seasons from Alec Brown and Larry Hill and Terry Evans, who are tied for fourth with 47 blocks.
• Fouse has blocked at least one shot in 20-straight games.
• Sophomore Greg Mays did not score on Tuesday night but grabbed 10 rebounds in just 21 minutes.
