GREEN BAY,
Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green
Bay women's basketball guard Megan Lukan
(Barrie, Ontario) was named Horizon League Co-Player of the Week for her
performance in Green Bay's 80-38 win over Valparaiso on Feb. 23, the Horizon
League office announced on Monday.
On Saturday, Lukan scored a career-high 22 points on
8-13 shooting while hitting four of eight attempts from long range after
entering the contest against the Crusaders having made just six three-pointers
this season. Before the win over Valparaiso at home, the last time Lukan had
made a three was on the Crusaders' home court on Jan. 26. She also added three
rebounds, four assists and a steal while finishing the contest without a
turnover.
Averaging 6.3 points per game, Lukan is second in the
Horizon League in assists per game with 4.3 and is also fourth in
assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.2. In NCAA statistic rankings released on Feb.
21, Lukan was 24th in assist-to-turnover ratio and 81st in assists per game
among all NCAA Division I women's basketball players.
Lukan shares the honor with UIC's Katie Hannemann, who
tallied 35 points and 15 rebounds in a win against Wright State on Feb. 21-the
most points scored by a UIC player in more than 11 years. Hannemann finished
out the week with 16 points and five rebounds in a home win against Detroit on
Saturday.
The award marks the second time a Green Bay player has
been named Horizon League Player of the week after Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) was honored on Nov. 26 following a
career day against Richmond in the 2012 Cancun Challenge finale.
Green Bay returns to action on Thursday with a road
battle at Detroit before taking on Hannemann and UIC in Chicago on Saturday.
