GREEN BAY,
Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Luxemburg-Casco
High School standout Marissa Kline (Luxemburg,
Wis.) has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Green Bay
volleyball program next fall, Phoenix head coach Debbie Kirch announced on Wednesday. She becomes the first member
of Green Bay's signing class of 2013.
"Marissa's versatility will add depth both in the
setting position and on the right side," Kirch said. "She is an excellent
athlete and we have been impressed with how coachable she is when she has
attended our camps. We are looking forward to having her join our team next
fall."
A 5-foot-11 setter and right side hitter, Kline led
Luxemburg-Casco to the Division 2 sectional finals in late October. The senior
finished her career as a unanimous First Team All-Bay Conference selection in
2012, and was also a Third Team All-State and first team all-conference pick as
a junior in 2011. She also earned second team honors in the Bay in 2010.
A two-time Green Bay Press-Gazette All-Area performer, Kline finished her career as Luxemburg-Casco's school record-holder for assists with 3,393.
Kline plays club volleyball for the Wisconsin
Volleyball Academy, and is a former high school teammate of Phoenix freshman Mikaela Gunderson (Casco, Wis.).
Kline's future squad is next in action this Friday at
the 2012 Horizon League Championship in Cleveland, Ohio. The fifth-seeded
Phoenix (15-13, 6-8 HL) will face fourth-seeded Loyola (16-11, 8-6 HL) in
quarterfinal competition at 4 p.m. CT at Woodling Gymnasium.
