GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - With one week off to prepare for its final game of the 2012 season Nov. 3 against Cleveland State, the Green Bay men's soccer team took time out of its preparations and gave back to area youth soccer players by hosting the first annual Howard Hurricanes FC Clinic at the Kress Events Center.

"It's been a goal of coach Popik's and I to give back to the community since we were hired here," said assistant coach Logan Hoffman who spearheaded the free clinic. "There's a lot of support out there in the community we just have to be able to connect with people and let them know they're valued."

Approximately 50 area youth soccer players from the Howard Hurricanes FC Club attended the 90 minute clinic featuring skills taught by members of the Green Bay men's soccer team and coaches. The youth players worked on skills such as shooting and dribbling techniques and had the opportunity to play games with the coaches and players on hand.

"We know that if we give back as a program, it will come back to us as well so we're excited to start this clinic and continue it in the future," Hoffman said. "It's always nice to get youth players in front of our student-athletes that can be role models to them both on and off the field."

The Green Bay men's soccer program plans to offer the clinic to other area youth clubs in the community. For more information on clinics, please contact Logan Hoffman at hoffmal@uwgb.edu.
