GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Head coach Brian Wardle and the Green Bay men's
basketball team will hold a Green and White scrimmage on Saturday at 3 p.m. at
the Kress Events Center, allowing Phoenix fans the first glimpse at the 2012-13
squad in action. The practice will conclude with a three-point contest and a
slam dunk contest.
Wardle and the Phoenix started practice on Oct. 15 and
have been preparing since for the upcoming season. Green Bay will host one
exhibition game this year when St. Norbert College visits the Kress Center on
Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. To see the team's full schedule for 2012-13, click

The Green and White scrimmage is part of Spirit Week
on UW-Green Bay's campus, which also includes a women's soccer game against
Milwaukee at 7 p.m. on Friday, a home swimming and diving meet against
Cleveland State at 12 p.m. and a men's soccer game against UIC at 7 p.m.
At 5 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a tailgate event
at the Kress Center for students and the public. The general public can eat at

The Phoenix, who is led by Preseason All-Horizon
League selections Alec Brown (Winona,
Minn.) and Keifer Sykes (Chicago,
Ill.), were picked to finish in third place in the Horizon
League Preseason Poll.

Brown, Sykes and the rest of the Phoenix will all be
on display on Saturday, and it will also be the first chance to see the team's newcomers
in action, including freshmen Nick Arenz
(Onalaska, Wis.), Ryan Bross
(Menomonee Falls, Wis.), Jordan Fouse
(Racine, Wis.) and Carrington Love (Milwaukee,
Wis.) and transfers Sultan Muhammad
(Chicago, Ill.) and Alfonzo McKinnie (Chicago, Ill.).
Muhammad is eligible to play immediately after
transferring from South Suburban Community College, but McKinnie will have to
sit down after joining the Phoenix from Eastern Illinois. Saturday will be the
lone chance to see the 6-foot-8 McKinnie play this season.
