MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up their 2012-13 seasons on Saturday afternoon with dual meets against Wisconsin at the UW Natatorium in Madison. The Badgers won all but one event in both meets, earning a 140-94 win on the women's side and a 142-93 victory on the men's side.

The Phoenix squads each claimed victories in the meet's final event - the 400-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.), Kendra Rottier (Green Bay, Wis.), Dana Iverson (Kenosha, Wis.) and Taylor Trelka (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) raced to a win in 3:40.44 for the women, while Tyler Evans (Lodi, Wis.), Cole Hackney (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Logan Parker (Corvallis, Ore.) and Ben Loeffelholz (Dubuque, Iowa) finished with a winning time of 3:11.08 for the men.

Wolf picked up a pair of second-place individual finishes in the women's 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, touching in at 24.71 in the 50 and 53.96 in the 100. Also earning runner-up finishes for the Phoenix women were Iverson in the 200 backstroke (2:11.59), Rottier in the 500 free (5:13.96), Megan Burley (Hazelhurst, Wis.) in the 200 butterfly (2:13.54), Marlee Kiander (Tomahawk, Wis.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.83), Jessica Stolfi (Kenosha, Wis.) in 1-meter diving (218.18) and Carrie Dinelli (Northbrook, Ill.) in 3-meter diving (244.65).

Hackney turned in one of the top individual performances on the men's side, racing to a second-place finish in the 50 free. The Phoenix junior finished in 21.99, just six one-hundredths of a second behind Wisconsin's Damon Zito (21.93).

Senior diver Mitchell Spaeth (Fredonia, Wis.) had a solid day on the boards for the Phoenix men, finishing second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Spaeth was just five points behind the Badgers' Logan Knauss (298.95) in the 3-meter competition, finishing with a score of 293.93, and was less than 10 points back of Knauss on the low board with a total of 263.63.

Additional runners-up on the men's side were Evans in the 100 free (47.40), Parker in the 500 free (4:54.41), Robert Miner (Madison, Wis.) in the 200 butterfly (1:58.86) and Jonathan Lesniak (McHenry, Ill.) in the 100 breaststroke (2:16.78).

The Phoenix men and women return to action next Saturday when they host Horizon League rival Cleveland State for Alumni Weekend at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium at noon.
