GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Horizon
League will host media days for both men's and women's basketball on Monday and
Tuesday at Rosemont, Ill., and Phoenix fans will have the opportunity to watch
some of the media day on the Horizon League Network and interact via Facebook
and Twitter.
Women's media day will be held on Monday afternoon with
Green Bay head coach Kevin Borseth
and senior guard Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) attending the
event to greet the media and appear on the set of HLN Live. HLN coverage will
begin at 1:30 p.m. CT with the release of the Preseason All-Horizon League
squad and the preseason poll, and Borseth and Ritchie will lead things off on
the set of HLN Live from 1:40-1:50 p.m. The interviews will be streamed live on
the Horizon League
Network and Facebook.
Borseth, who guided the Phoenix to 216 wins from
1998-2007, begins his second stint as the Green Bay head coach. Green Bay
enters the 2012-13 season with a streak of 14-straight conference championships
and after three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. Ritchie, a 5-foot-11
senior guard, was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team as a junior after
averaging 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Tuesday afternoon will mark the 2012-13 men's
basketball media day, and Green Bay head coach Brian Wardle and junior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) will be in attendance. The media day will get
underway at 12:30 p.m. CT with a welcome from Jim Barbar, the play-by-play voice of the Horizon League Game of the
Week, and opening remarks from Commissioner Jon LeCrone. The preseason poll and the preseason All-League teams
will be announced at 12:50 p.m.
Wardle and Brown will meet the media at 1:40 p.m.
before appearing on the set of HLN Live from 2-2:20 p.m. The Horizon League
Network will have coverage of the event on HorizonLeague.com
and Facebook.
Wardle is beginning his third season at the helm of
the Phoenix program and welcomes back all five starters from a 2011-12 team that
won eight of its last 10 games. One of those starters is Brown, a 7-foot-1
junior who was named to the All-Horizon League First Team in 2012. Brown
averaged 13.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as a sophomore.
During
both events, fans can also engage and interact with the Horizon League's
Twitter account (@HorizonLeague).
Fans can engage in a live chat while they watch the Q and A, simply by using
the hashtag HLWBB or HLMBB in their tweets. Questions and comments that
appear in the chat may be used on air as well.
