SOUTH BEND, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The
Green Bay men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 57th annual
Notre Dame Invitational Friday, Sept. 28 at the Notre Dame Cross Country Course
in South Bend, Ind.
On
the women's side, in the 5K Gold Division, Green Bay finished in 13th place
scoring 313 team points. Freshman Sarah Mauel (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Phoenix
with a 45th-place finish with a time of 18:41. Senior Areanna Lakowske (Sparta,
Wis.) crossed the line with a time of 18:56 for a 53rd place finish.
Rounding
out the top five scorers for Green Bay was freshman Jennifer Jones (Appleton,
Wis.) with a time of 19:07, finishing in 57th place overall while Nicole Will
(Luxemburg, Wis.) crossed the line with a time of 19:20. Junior Kristi Petasek
(New Franken, Wis.) completed the 5K course with a time of 20:10.
TCU
won the Gold Division scoring 62 team points while host Notre Dame finished
second with 86 points.
On
the men's side, junior Alexander Kimble (Green Bay, Wis.) paced Green Bay with
a time of 27:51, followed closely by Andrew Sorenson (Onalaska, Wis.) with a
time of 28:09. William Lobner (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) completed the five mile
course in a time of 28:47 while senior Evan Wachter (Plymouth, Wis.) crossed
the line in 29:38.
Andrew
Dockendorff (La Crescent, Minn.) rounded out the top five for Green Bay with a
time of 29:43.
As
a team Green Bay scored 555 points, finishing in 18th place. North Central
College won the men's title scoring 54 points while Texas at Arlington was
second with 73 points.
Green
Bay will complete its regular season competition with the Bradley Classic
Friday, Oct. 12 in Peoria, Ill.
