GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After falling
to Detroit in a tough 1-0 home loss in the Horizon League opener Sept. 22,
Green Bay (3-6-0) will travel to Wright State (6-2-3) and look to get back on
track against a tough Raiders team on Friday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at
Alumni Field.
Despite going 0-2 over the last two games, Green Bay
has played impressive defense and competed well with successful teams. The
Phoenix battled defending Missouri Valley Conference Champions Illinois State
(6-2-2) evenly for 78 minutes of play before the Redbirds found the net a
second time in a 2-1 loss
on Sept. 19. In the Horizon League opener against Detroit (4-4-1) last Saturday, sophomore goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk
(Madison, Wis.) made a season-high eight saves in a 1-0 loss highlighted by
strong defensive play on both sides.
Wright State enters the game on a three-game winning streak,
highlighted by a 5-0 win over IPFW Sept. 24. The Raiders have just one loss
over their last seven games. During that time, the team has outscored its
opponents by a combined score of 13-5.
The Phoenix will return home to face Indiana State in
a nonconference noon game Sept. 30, and then travel back to Ohio Oct. 3 to face
Cleveland State in a 4 p.m. duel.

DEFENSE: Although 0-2 in its previous
two games the Phoenix defense, often made up of four freshmen players, has

37 on the season.
TOUGH PLACE
TO PLAY: Wright State holds a 13-5-3
all-time lead over Green Bay, including a 7-1-3 record at home. The last time
Green Bay won at Alumni Field was Oct. 16, 1994.
