GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Freshman Katie Pokrandt (Eau Claire, Wis.) continued her strong play and led a trio of freshman golfers that carded 82s on Tuesday to lead the Green Bay women's golf team at the Green Bay Invitational. Pokrandt finished in a tie for 11th after rounds of 76 and 82 in the 36-hole event at Green Bay Country Club.

The Phoenix A squad took ninth place in the tournament with a team score of 679 while the B team finished in 11th place at 690. Indianapolis won the event by 12 strokes with a team score of 629 while Northern Illinois and Butler tied for second at 641. Butler's Jenna Peters was the individual medalist at 3-over par 149 on the par-73 course.

Pokrandt has led the Phoenix in all three of the team's rounds this season, and on Tuesday was joined by a pair of teammates and classmates that had matching 82s. Freshmen Sammi Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.) played the par-3s in a tournament-best 3-under par for the tournament and finished in a tie for 35th. Lexi Wilson (Marinette, Wis.) bounced back from a tough opening round to shoot an 82 on Tuesday and finish in a tie for 61st (100-82=182).

The B team was led by junior Grace Abitz (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.), who each finished the tournament in a tie for 28th at 168.

The women's tournament included a hole-in-one on Tuesday when SIU Edwardsville's Ashton Stair made an ace on the par-3, 149-yard 13th hole.

Green Bay will next be in action this weekend at the Chicago State Cougar Classic at Harborside International Golf Course on Sept. 17-18.
