EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After
picking up its first win of the season the Green Bay (1-4-0) women's soccer
team fell 2-0 to UM-Kansas City in the final game of the SIUE Classic Sunday,
Sept. 1. The Phoenix outshot UMKC 9-7 in the contest but UMKC's Taylor Bare
scored both of her team's goals for the 2-0 win.
In
the 39th minute, Bare beat charging goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.)
for the 1-0 lead. Bare scored the security goal of the contest in the 54th minute
to seal the win form UMKC.
Green
Bay Sophomore Chandra Eigenberger (Green Bay, Wis.) led all players with four
shots in the game while senior Megan Braatz added two. Justy Linton (Winnipeg,
Manitoba), Chanel Aries (Calgary, Alberta) and Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes,
Ireland) each added a shot in the contest for the Phoenix.
Pilarzyk
registered one save in the contest while both teams had five corner kick
opportunities.
BACK HOME AGAIN: Green Bay will return home for
the first time since the season opener, hosting Michigan Tech next Friday,
Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
