GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The College
Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its list of
Scholar All-America teams for the Spring 2012 semester, recognizing squads that
achieved a 3.0 grade-point average or higher. The UW-Green Bay women made the
list of 144 Division I teams, as the Phoenix posted an impressive 3.34 GPA.
"I'm very proud of our
women's team for having another successful semester in the classroom," Phoenix
head coach Jim Merner said. "Our program has had a rich tradition of
excelling both in the pool and academically, and to see them get recognized for
that success if very exciting."
The women's swimming and
diving team was one of 13 Green Bay sports to achieve a 3.2 GPA or higher in
the spring, helping the department to one of its most
successful semesters in school history. Phoenix student-athletes combined
for a record-high 3.27 GPA, marking the 25th-straight semester above a 3.0.
Phoenix swimming and
diving also had 10 women with a 3.2 GPA or better, landing them on the Horizon
League's Spring 2012 Academic Honor Roll.
