PEORIA, Ill.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Junior Chad Evert (Kenosha, Wis.) and sophomore Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) both finished in the top-five, pacing the
Green Bay men's golf team to a second place finish at this weekend's Hotels at
Grand Prairie Invitational at Weaver Ridge Golf Club. The Phoenix fired the
best team score in the final round of the 54-hole event, shooting a 295 to move
into second place.
Fellow Horizon League foe Loyola won the event, which was
hosted by Bradley. The Ramblers had a team score of 878, 14 strokes ahead of
Green Bay's total of 892. Bradley, Nebraska-Omaha and Chicago State rounded out
the top-five.
Ebert had three consistent rounds, posting scores of
71, 73 and 74 to finish in fourth place with a 54-hole total of 2-over 218.
Ozga was one stroke back in fifth place with a total of 3-over 219. Ozga had
the best round of the tournament by a Phoenix player, carding a 3-under 69 in
round one.
Junior Cam
Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) and sophomore Sam Weber (Heartland, Wis.) each tied for 13th place with
three-round scores of 14-over 230 while freshman Tyler Schmidt
(Jefferson, Wis.) carded a 74 in the final round.
Green Bay will have one more tune-up before the
Horizon League Championships at the end of the month, play at the Detroit
Invitational on April 13-14.
