GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The most highly recruited player in the class of 2011, James Weber, has
decided to transfer to the Green Bay men's soccer program, joining the Phoenix
roster this fall. A graduate of Hartford Union High School, Weber was
Wisconsin's all-time leading goal scorer with 173 career high school goals,
which ranks 11th all time.
"He's got good pace and a player that makes things happen,"
said Green Bay head coach Kris Kelderman who is in his second season leading
the Phoenix. "His finishing qualities are outstanding."
Weber comes to Green Bay from Xavier University where he
played 12 games for the Musketeers during his freshman campaign while appearing
in the starting lineup twice. The 6'0" forward fired 17 shots, 10 on goal,
while scoring three goals.
Coming out of high school, Weber was the nation's No. 37
prospect and No. 2 player in the Midwest by TopDrawerSoccer.com and an
All-Wisconsin, All-Region, All-Area and All-Conference selection. Weber also
holds Wisconsin's No. 2. single season goal scoring record with 53 goals his
junior year and was named an ESPN Rise Wisconsin Fall All-America Honorable
Mention.
Weber also played for North Shore United Soccer Club.
