Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The
Green Bay men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up their dual meet seasons
Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, with both squads falling to the in-state rival
Panthers at the Klotsche Natatorium. UWM took the men's contest 184-59, while
the Panther women won 163-78.
Despite the losses, the Phoenix diving corps had a
strong regular season finale, with several divers posting career-best scores.
Senior standout Daniel Pogue
(Chisholm, Minn.) registered the two highest scores of his illustrious career
while winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Pogue took the low
board with a personal-best score of 376.12 before winning the 3-meter board
with an impressive 381.97.
Junior Mitchell Spaeth (Fredonia, Wis.) also posted a pair of personal records Saturday,
finishing second in the 1-meter event (327.60) and third in the 3-meter
(328.72). On the women's side, sophomore Carrie Dinelli (Northbrook, Ill.) had her career-best on the 3-meter board,
finishing second with a score of 265.80.
Green Bay sophomore Kendra Rottier (Green Bay, Wis.) had the best day in the pool for
the Phoenix women, winning a pair of individual events. Rottier took the
1000-yard freestyle with a time 10:24.19, followed by a first-place finish in the
500 free in 5:06.42.
Green Bay now has more than two weeks to prepare for
the 2012 Horizon League Championship Meet, held Feb. 22-25 in Milwaukee.
