LEMONT, Ill.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Junior Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) fired a final round 73 as the Green Bay men's golf team shot
a 305 on Sunday and finished in a tie for eighth place in the 15-team John
Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul. The 54-hole tournament was held at Ruffled
Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill.
Green Bay had rounds of 305 and 313 on Saturday, and
its 305 on Sunday was the fifth best team score of the day. Florida Gulf Coast (873)
won the event by three strokes over Missouri (876) while IUPUI, DePaul and
Northern Iowa rounded out the top five. Missouri's Emilio Cuartero won the
event with a three-day total of 213.
Ebert opened with an 80 in round one and was the only
Green Bay golfer not to shoot in the 70s, but the top Phoenix golfer finished
with rounds of 78 and 73. His round on Sunday included birdies on three of the
four par-5s.
Sophomore Sam Weber (Heartland, Wis.) was the lone
Phoenix golfer with three rounds in the 70s and finished a stroke back of Ebert
in a tie for 36th (232=77-77-78). Sophomore Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) carded an eagle two on the par-4 16th
hole to shoot a 77 Sunday and finished tied for 48th (236=78-81-77).
Freshman Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) opened
with a 1-over 73 and was fifth in the field in total birdies with 11, but an 88
dropped him to a tie for 52nd. Senior Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) rounded out the Phoenix golfers two strokes behind
Boockmeier in a tie for 54th (240=77-86-77).
