VALPARAISO, Ind.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Senior Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.) fired a second round 79 and the Green
Bay women's golf team finished in tenth place as the Valpo Invitational
concluded Tuesday afternoon. Butler, the winners of last week's Green Bay Invitational,
took the team title.
Led by Yorobe, Green Bay shaved nine strokes off its
score from Monday's opening round. The Phoenix shot rounds of 334 and 325 on
the par 72, 6151 yard course. Yorobe's two-day total of 164 left the senior in
a tie for 30th. Junior Christina De Boer
(Onalaska, Wis.) had rounds of 81 and 83 to tie with Yorobe for team high
honors.
Stephanie Fifield (Oconto Falls, Wis.), who
shot an eight-over par 80 on Tuesday, and sophomore Molly Fassbinder (Hudson, Wis.), who posted two rounds of 83, tied
for 40th place. Sophomore Grace Abitz was five shots back of them in a tie for
57th.
Freshman Renee
Christensen (Greenleaf, Wis.), one
of the top Phoenix golfers early this season, did not make the trip due to
illness.
The Phoenix will return to action on Oct. 3-4,
competing in the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
