GREEN BAY,
Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Senior Steph Fitfield finished in 11th place and the Green Bay women's golf team
claimed sixth as the Green Bay Invitational concluded on Tuesday afternoon at
Green Bay Country Club. The Phoenix had a two-day total of 659, including
Tuesday's final round of 335.
Fitfield backed up her 80 on Monday with an 81 in the
final round and finished in a three-way tie for 11th. Sophomore Grace Abitz (Appleton, Wis.) had her second consecutive 83 and finished
tied for 25th along with freshman Renee
Christensen (Greenleaf, Wis.), who
struggled to a 90 on Tuesday after opening the tournament with an impressive
four-over 76. For the tournament, Christensen led the field in par five scoring
at 3-under par.
Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.) and Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.) rounded out Green Bay's scoring on Tuesday
with an 84 and an 87 respectively.
Butler won the team title by 13 strokes over fellow
Horizon League opponent Loyola with a two-day total of 617 (310-307). Loyola's
Ann Vrdolyak won individual medalist honors for the second consecutive season
with rounds of 73 and 76.
Green Bay is in action again next Monday and Tuesday,
traveling to Aberdeen, Ind., for the Valparaiso Classic.
