GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Freshman Renee Christensen (Greenleaf, Wis.) fired a two-under par 35 on her second nine Monday to lead the Phoenix women's golf team with a 76 in the opening round of the Green Bay Invitational at Green Bay Country Club. The freshman enters Tuesday's final round just three strokes off the lead and in a tie for fourth place.

Green Bay carded a 324 as a team and is in sixth place after 18 holes on the par 73, 5,922-yard course. Lewis has a one stroke lead over Butler in the 10-team field with a 309. Loyola (313), Northern Illinois (319) and Chicago State (322) round out the top five on the team scoreboard.

Senior Steph Fitfield (Oconto Falls, Wis.) was second on Green Bay with an 80 while Grace Abitz (Appleton, Wis.), Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.) and Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.) rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 83, 85 and 89 respectively.

Christensen's second nine included a birdie on the par-five second and an eagle on the par-five sixth hole. She will have a chance at the title on Tuesday, trailing only Loyola's Ann Vrdolyak (73), Lewis' Leila Marquet (74) and Northern Illinois' Allie Parthie (75).

The final round of the Green Bay Invitational will get underway on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
