GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - New men's soccer head coach Kris Kelderman has announced the hiring of Kyle
Zenoni as the assistant coach for the Green Bay men's soccer team for the 2011
season. Zenoni joins the Phoenix after serving as an assistant with in-state
rival Milwaukee for the past two seasons.
"I think Kyle is a great compliment to me in the fact he
knows the state well for recruiting purposes," said Kelderman. "He's going to
be a huge help to our program not only long term but also short term with his
knowledge of the conference."
Zenoni is no stranger to the Horizon League having played at
UWM from 2002-05 and leading the Panthers to the second round of the NCAA
Tournament each season. Following his college career Zenoni was selected by the
Chicago Storm in the MISL Draft before traveling overseas to continue his
professional career.
"My Wisconsin roots and the fact I played and coached in the
conference will be a huge help to our program here at Green Bay," said Zenoni.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with Kris at Green Bay. I just got
married last week and bought a house two months ago and I'm picking up
everything to relocate to work with him."
Zenoni will be recruiting with one of his former coaches by
working with Kelderman, who coached him in 2000 when Zenoni played for the
Wisconsin Rebels. The team was primarily made up of top college players, but
Zenoni's skills at Arrowhead High School gave him the opportunity to join the
Rebels under Kelderman's leadership.
In 2010 Zenoni served as the Panthers interim
coach for the spring season while guiding UWM to a 2-2-2 record.
