EVANSTON, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Led by an 81 from junior Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.), the Green Bay women's golf
team shaved four strokes off its first round score and maintained seventh place
at the Loyola Spring Invitational in Evanston, Ill. The Phoenix fired a 339 on
Tuesday for a two-day total of 682.
Western
Illinois claimed the title at the event with a two-day total of 626, three
strokes clear of Loyola. Northern Illinois claimed third with a score of 636
while Chicago State (641) and Eastern Illinois (653) took fourth and fifth.
Loyola's Ann Vrdolyak won individual medalist honors with rounds of 75 and 76.
Senior
Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.) followed up her first-round 81 with an 84 on
Tuesday to finish 36 holes in a tie for 20th place. Hansen's two-day total was
a stroke higher than Yorobe's total of 166 (85-81), good for 23rd place. Sophomore
Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.)
was four strokes better on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 34th (88-84=172).
Green
Bay will compete in the Horizon League Championship from April 22-24 at Mission
Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
