GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The late Butch Reimer will be posthumously inducted
into the Phoenix Hall of Fame, Green Bay Athletics announced on Tuesday. Reimer
will be honored during the 18th Phoenix Hall of Fame Induction Banquet as the lone
member of the Class of 2011 and will be the 71st member inductee overall.
The
induction banquet will be held on Friday, April 29, at The Marq in De Pere,
Wis., beginning at 6 p.m. The night will include a social hour from 6-7 p.m., dinner
at 7 p.m. and the induction program at 8 p.m. Tickets for the induction
ceremony, which cost $25 per person, can be reserved until April 25 by calling
the Green Bay Athletics Ticket Office at (920) 465-5125.
A
longtime coach and supporter of Green Bay Athletics, Reimer passed away on Oct.
19, 2010 after a battle with acute myogenic leukemia. The coach most recently
worked as the head Nordic ski coach from 2006 until the time of his passing. He
also coached the Nordic ski program from 1988-98 and served as the head
softball coach from 1996-2002.
During
his time at Green Bay, Reimer led the ski program to great heights. In his
years leading the program, 33 men and women qualified for the NCAA
Championships and his teams won two regional championships and two conference
titles.
While
at the helm of the softball program, Reimer led the Phoenix to three-straight
conference title games and a then-program best 27-15 record in 2000.
