JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay golf teams opened spring competition Monday and Tuesday at the Don Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, with the Phoenix men finishing fifth and the women claiming 13th place. The men were led by sophomore Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.), whose second-round 71 (E) tied for the lowest round of the day.

Ebert's impressive second round total left him in seventh place in the tournament after an opening round 74 on Monday. He helped the Phoenix finish the 36-hole event with a score of 608 (+40), 23 strokes behind Appalachian State, who won the tourney.

Other than Ebert, Green Bay's first round was better than its second, as the Phoenix shot a 13-over 297. Senior Austin Ehlenfeldt (Beaver Dam, Wis.) led the Phoenix with an even par 71 before closing with a second round 83. Sophomore Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) carded a one-over 72 in the opening round and finished the tournament in 20th place.

Green Bay's women claimed 13th place and were led by senior Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.), who had an opening round of 78 and finished with a two-day total of 166 (+22). As a team, Green Bay had a score of 686 (+110) for the 36-hole event.

Freshman Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis.) opened with an 82 and finished in the top-50 with a two-day total of 170 (+26) while sophomore Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.) finished in a tie for 54th after a second round 85 and a 36-hole total of 173 (+29).
