VALPARAISO, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's and women's swimming teams
cruised to dual meet victories Friday night on the road as both squads defeated
Valparaiso at the Athletics-Recreation Center Pool. The Phoenix men earned a
140-64 win, while the women won by a score of 161-43.
The
Green Bay women's squad had a first-place finisher in all 11 events, while the
men were victorious in all but two races.
Winning
twice individually for the Phoenix women were sophomore Emilee Harry (Sheboygan, Wis.) and freshman Kendra Rottier (Green Bay, Wis.). Harry took the 50-yard freestyle
(24.92) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.17), while Rottier earned wins in the 100
butterfly (1:01.41) and the 1000 free (10:34.69).
Also
earning individual wins on the women's side were Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) in the 200 free (1:56.12), Heather Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.) in
the 200 IM (2:11.80), Amy Burback
(Waunakee, Wis.) in the 100 free (54.17), Amber Bartholomew (Alexandria, Minn.) in the 500 free (5:22.37) and Erin Cox (Berlin, Wis.) in the 100
breaststroke (1:09.43).
Seven
men earned individual wins for the Phoenix, as Jason Askew (Durban, South Africa) won the 1000 free (9:58.71), Andrew Gelden (Kenosha, Wis.) won the
200 free (1:48.75), Tyler Evans
(Lodi, Wis.) took the 50 free (21.87), Dan Judge (Decatur, Ill.) won the 100 free (49.68), Tim Scanlan (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) earned a win in the 100
backstroke (55.05), Alex Hallam
(Wausau, Wis.) won the 500 free (4:56.12) and Jonathan Lesniak (McHenry, Ill.) took the 100 breast (1:01.89).
The
Phoenix swimmers are fresh off a 10-day training trip in Venice, Fla., where they
competed against Illinois Wesleyan on Jan. 3. Prior to the training trip, Green
Bay was last in action on Dec. 5, 2010 at the Iowa Invite in Iowa City, Iowa.
Green
Bay has a quick turnaround after competing against the Crusaders, as the
Phoenix teams are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. at UIC.
