GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (3-8-3, 1-4-1
Horizon League) wraps up its three-match road trip Friday when it travels to
Wright State (8-8-0, 3-3-0 Horizon League) for its final regular season road
contest of 2010. Game time is set for 6 p.m. CT at Alumni Field.
The
Phoenix, currently eighth in the conference, is fighting for one of six spots
in the Horizon League Tournament. Green Bay must win its final two games
(Friday at Wright State, Sunday vs. Detroit) in order to have a chance to qualify.
Green
Bay trails in the all-time series with the Raiders, as Wright State owns an
11-5-3 advantage. The last time the Phoenix won against Wright State was in the
2005 season when it claimed a 1-0 victory at Santaga Stadium (Oct. 7).
The
Phoenix enters Friday's match coming off a pair of strong performances. Green
Bay picked up its first league win on Tuesday night when it defeated Loyola 2-1
on the road. Last Friday, Green Bay took first-place Milwaukee to the final
seconds of the first overtime period before allowing the game's only goal to
fall 1-0. Maddie Drusch had six saves in goal for the Phoenix.
Wright
State is coming off a 1-0 win over Valparaiso on Sunday, marking the Raiders'
13th one-goal decision of the season. Wright State is 6-7 in one-goal games on
the year. The Phoenix has had eight one-goal decisions in 2010, posting a 1-7
record in those matches.
