KETTERING, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com)
- After a
program-record start to the Dayton Fall Invitational, the women's golf team
finished the 36-hole tournament in fifth place. The Phoenix shot a 322 in the
second round of play to finish with a combined team score of 626 (+66).
Green Bay
placed three players in the top 20 in the field of 56. Coming off her best
collegiate round in the first day of the tournament (72), Cassandra Marschall
(Marshfield, Wis.) finished in sixth place with a combined score of 152 (+12).
Marschall was one of two players to finish even on par 3 holes.
Senior Ellyn
Hansen (Milton, Wis.) led the way for Green Bay in the final round, shooting 78,
finishing with a combined score of 154 (+14) in the tournament. Hansen finished
in 10th place overall and was -1 in par 5 scoring.
Eleanor
Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.) fired 84 in her final round, finishing with a final
score of 159 (+19). Yorobe fired four birdies throughout the tournament and
finished in 18th place.
Nicole
Westcott (Mequon, Wis.) shot one stroke better than her first round (81) and
finished the 6,358 yard course with a score of 161 (+21). Meanwhile Christina
DeBoer (Onalaska, Wis.) matched her first round score (84) to finish with a
combined 168, rounding out the scoring for the Phoenix.
Horizon
League rival, Butler, won the invitational after shooting 295 in the final
round, finishing with a combined score of 600 (+40).
The Dayton
Invitational wrapped up fall play for the Phoenix. Green Bay will tee off
spring competition March 11.
