GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Following an 11-day layoff, the Green Bay women's
soccer team (2-6-2, 0-2-0 Horizon League) will host Butler (3-9-0, 1-1-0
Horizon League) on Friday at 7 p.m. at Santaga Stadium. Green Bay's last home
game was on Sept. 12 against South Dakota State where the Phoenix fell
1-0.
The Phoenix is coming off
a 1-0 loss against Youngstown State on Sept. 26, despite outshooting the Penguins
by a 10-shot margin. It marked the fifth straight game the Phoenix lost by a
1-0 margin. Sophomore midfielder Lauren
Somers (Bloomington, Minn.) led the Phoenix with five shots, three of them
on goal.
Butler enters Friday
coming off a 1-0 loss against Valparaiso. Friday's match is the second of seven
straight conference matches for the Bulldogs. They are 1-1-0 in Horizon League
play this season.
Green Bay is 5-16-0 in the
all-time series against Butler and 1-1-0 against the Bulldogs in the last two
seasons under head coach Trevor Warren.
The last time the Phoenix beat the Bulldogs was in the 2008 season, winning at
home 2-1 (Oct. 19).
Getting it done on defense: The Phoenix continues to find itself near the top of
the NCAA rankings in several defensive categories. As a team, Green Bay is
currently 20th in the nation in goals-against average (0.57), while goalkeeper Maddie Drusch (Appleton, Wis.) ranks 10th
in the country in save percentage (.902) and 24th in goals-against average
(0.59).

Next on the schedule: Green bay has one more home game against Valparaiso on
Sunday before beginning a three-game road trip at Milwaukee on Oct. 15. Green
