INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Green Bay women's golf team shot
its best score in program history to place third in the Butler Fall
Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at Eagle Creek Golf Course. After
breaking the program record by 10 strokes (307) in the first round, the Phoenix
shot 312 in the final round to post a program-best 619 for the tournament.
Three players, Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.), Cassandra
Marschall (Marshfield, Wis.) and Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.), finished
in the top 20 in the field of 82.
After shooting a 76 in the first round, Hansen shot a 75
Tuesday, posting a final score of 151 (+7) to finish in fifth place. Hansen had
23 pars in the 18-hole invitational. As a team, Green Bay finished with 99
pars, which ranked second in the 14-team field.
Marschall finished in 13th place after shooting 77 in both
rounds, combining for 154 (+10). Meanwhile, De Boer shot 77 in her first round
and posted 79 in her second round, finishing in 19th place with 156 (+12).
Other scorers for Green Bay included Eleanor Yorobe
(Bloomington, Minn.), who shot 77 in her first round and 83 in her second.
Yorobe's combined score of 156 (+16) placed her 30th in the field. Sophomore
Nicole Westcott (Mequon, Wis.) shot 80 in the first round and 81 in the second
for a combined total of 161 (+17).
Bradley University won the 14-team invitational with a score
of 602 while Western Kentucky finished second with 613. Green Bay placed ahead
of conference rivals Butler, Loyola, Valparaiso and Cleveland State.
Green Bay's next invitational will Monday, Oct. 18 in Ohio.
The Phoenix will be competing in the Dayton Invitational which tees off at
10:00 a.m.
