- The Green Bay men's
golf team shot a 15-over par 303 Monday to finish in fifth place at the
season-opening Green Bay Invitational. Senior Austin Ehlenfeldt shot a final round 77 to finish in a tie for
fifth at 223 (+7), three strokes behind the leaders.
The 54-hole event, held at the 7,097-yard, par-72 Green Bay
Country Club, was won by St. Ambrose with a three-round total of 24-over 888. They
finished 12 strokes clear of Lewis (900). Loyola (902), IPFW (904) and Green
Bay rounded out the top five. The Green Bay B squad finished eighth with a
54-hole total of 944 (+80).
Brandon White of Lewis (220, +4) claimed medalist honors with
a par on the second playoff hole, the 18th. Travis England of St. Ambrose and
Dylan Gergen of Loyola participated in the playoff and tied for second (220,
+4).
Green Bay sophomore Chad
Ebert led the Phoenix on Tuesday with a one-over 73. Ebert led the field in
par-five scoring for the week at five-under and finished his tournament tied
for 17th overall (230, +14). He was two shots back of teammate Sam Weber, who finished in 16th (228,
+12) after a final round 77. Cam Fuller
shot a 76 Tuesday and finished tied for 21st (232, +16) while Chris Pural rounded out the team in a
tie for 31st (235, +19).
Paul Bertl and Dan Ozga paced the Green Bay B squad, finishing tied for 24th (233,
+17). Ozga and Lee Swan each shot a final round 76, and Swan finished tied for
31st overall. Evan Desormeau
finished 43rd (243, +27) after closing his tournament with an 85.
The Phoenix will return to action on Monday, Sept. 20,
competing in the North Dakota State Invitational in Fargo, N.D.
