GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (1-1-2) welcomes
Northern Iowa (0-4-0) to Santaga Stadium Friday night at 7 p.m. for the second
game of a three-match home stand.
The Phoenix is coming off
a 0-0 double overtime tie against Eastern Illinois last Friday, a contest in
which Green Bay out-shot the Panthers 21-8. Junior goalkeeper Maddie Drusch led
the Green Bay defense in earning the team's third shutout in four games this
season. Drusch currently leads all Horizon League goalies in shutouts (3) and
goals against (0.22 avg.). In all, Green Bay has given up just one score this
year.
Northern Iowa enters
Friday coming off a tough 6-0 loss against Iowa on Sunday. Friday's match
begins a four-game road trip for the Panthers, a stretch in which they also
face Western Michigan, South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
Green Bay is 6-2-0 in the
all-time series against Northern Iowa and 2-0-0 against the Panthers in the
last two seasons under head coach Trevor Warren. The last time the Panthers
defeated the Phoenix was in the 2007 season when Warren was an assistant coach
at UNI.
