Green Bay Hosts Eastern Illinois Friday Night

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (1-1-1) plays host to Eastern Illinois (2-2-0) Friday night at Santaga Stadium at 7 p.m. It is the first of three consecutive home games for the Phoenix - its longest home stand of the 2010 season.

Friday marks the fourth meeting between the two schools, with the Panthers holding a 2-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. Most recently, Green Bay and Eastern Illinois battled to a 2-2 overtime draw last season (Sept. 20) in Charleston, Ill., where the Phoenix out-shot the home team 22-9.

Green Bay is coming off its first victory of the year, defeating North Dakota 2-0 on the road last Sunday. Junior forward Laura Hamer (Blaine, Minn.) tallied the team's first goal of the season, while freshman forward Anna Kouba (Lino Lakes, Minn.) recorded her first collegiate score. Freshman defender Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) also got on the score sheet, issuing a pair of assists.

Phoenix junior goalkeeper Maddie Drusch (Appleton, Wis.) posted her second shutout in three games this season in Sunday's win over the Fighting Sioux. Drusch currently leads all Horizon League goalies in saves (23), shutouts (2) and goals against (1 goal/0.31 average).

Eastern Illinois opened the 2010 campaign with two straight victories, but has since dropped its last two games. The Panthers beat IUPUI (2-0) and Evansville (1-0 OT), then lost to Horizon League school Valparaiso (1-0) and Eastern Michigan (1-0).
