GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com)
- Just as it
did last weekend to begin the 2010 season, the Green Bay volleyball team
travels to Iowa this weekend for four matches. The Phoenix will play three
games in Des Moines at the Drake Invite Friday and Saturday before playing a
neutral site contest in Ames on Sunday.
Green Bay (0-3)
opens the weekend Friday night against Drake, playing the host Bulldogs at 7
p.m. The Phoenix will then play North Dakota and Southern Utah on Saturday at 2
and 5:30 p.m. respectively. The neutral site contest Sunday in Ames will be
against South Dakota State at 1 p.m.
The contest
against South Dakota State is ironically exactly one year to the day after the
Phoenix defeated the Jackrabbits 3-1 in Green Bay.
Last weekend
at Iowa, the Phoenix received strong play from a trio of freshmen making their
collegiate debuts. Monica Anderson
(Cottage Grove, Ill.) tallied 10 kills in her first match and a team-high 25
for the weekend. Defensive specialists Kara
Lindstedt (Shoreview, Minn.) and Sabrina
Marunowski (Milwaukee, Wis.) combined for 52 digs.

Match Point with Debbie Kirch: The second episode of Match Point with Debbie Kirch debuted
this week. Kirch discussed the upcoming weekend as well as the play of the

Away from Home: The Phoenix will play its first 12
contests of the season away from its home court at the Kress Events Center. Next
weekend, the Phoenix will return to Des Moines for four more games at the Drake
Invite. Green Bay opens the portion of its home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 18,
at 7 p.m. against Milwaukee.
