INDIANAPOLIS - Green Bay senior Lauryn Grimando (Oak Brook, Ill.) has been named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the period of March 1-7, the conference office announced Tuesday. She is the first Phoenix winner in more than four years to claim the honor.
Grimando earned victories in her only singles and doubles matches of the week. She was the lone player for the Phoenix to win both her singles and doubles matches in a 4-3 loss to Northern Iowa. Grimando recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and paired with Emily Lawent (Milwaukee, Wis.) to notch an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Green Bay women start their league schedule Saturday against Valparaiso.
