GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay women's soccer head coach
Trevor Warren has announced the addition of four student-athletes to his roster,
as Renee Therrien (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Anna
Kouba (Lino Lakes, Minn.), Ella Bump (River Falls, Wis.) and Ahna Logan (Roseville, Minn.) have each
signed National Letters of Intent to join the Phoenix for the 2010 campaign.
Therrien was a four-year starter at Westwood Collegiate
High School in Winnipeg, tallying 65 goals and dishing out 48 assists
throughout her career. She has also
been a member of the Manitoba
Provincial Team from 2006-2010 and has been an invitee to the Canadian Regional Training Center in
Winnipeg.
Therrien has also been successful academically, as she is
an honor roll student at Westwood Collegiate.
"Renee is an explosive left-sided attacking player and is
equally at home playing as a left forward or midfielder," Warren said. "She has
the ability to take on defenders one-on-one and either get crosses in or
unleash a powerful shot. She is also quite ambidextrous which allows her to go
left or right past defenders which makes her difficult to contain. She is very
dangerous cutting inside and getting off a powerful shot."
Kouba began playing varsity soccer in eighth grade at
Centennial High School in Minnesota, where she holds school records for most
career goals, assists and points. She also holds records for most assists in a
season, most assists in a game and most points in a game. As a senior, she led
her squad to conference and sectional championships, as well as a fifth-place
finish in the state tournament. Kouba earned honorable mention all-state
recognition in 2009, as well as all-conference and MVP honors.
At the club level, Kouba was a two-year member of the St.
Croix Premier and Select teams. She was also a five-year member of the
Minnesota Thunder Elite Academy, where she helped her team to State Cup
semifinal appearances in 2007 and 2008.
In the classroom, she was on the A honor roll all four
years and was a member of the National Honor Society.
"Anna is a fast, athletic, skillful attacking player and
has the versatility to play a number of positions on the field," Warren said. "She
holds just about every record for scoring and assists at Centennial High School
and she has also been a member of the Minnesota Olympic development team. Anna also
played for one of my former players, Meghan Schoeberl, who coached her for the
Minnesota Thunder Academy."
Bump, a three-year letter
winner at River Falls High School was her team's captain and offensive player
of the year as a sophomore. She played club ball for the St. Croix Fury in
Minnesota and was a member of the Minnesota Olympic Development team and Region
II Olympic Development team in 2006.
In the classroom, Bump is an A honor roll student. She
also lettered in both swimming and tennis during her high school career.
"Ella is a very versatile player and could play in a number
of positions in either defense or midfield," Warren said. "She is a strong athlete
and reads the game very well. I expect her to have a significant impact on the
team as a freshman."
Logan was a four-year letter winner at Roseville High School, earning all-conference and team MVP honors as a team captain in 2009. She won the Raider Award in 2008 and was her team's rookie of the year in 2005. Logan was also a three-year captain for her club team.
"Ahna is another very athletic, technical player with the ability to play a number of positions in the midfield where she has played for her club and high school teams," Warren said. "Ahna is a late addition to the squad because I had been unable to see her play in person until January of this year. I saw her play in the St. Croix Dome, along with one of our other incoming freshman Anna Kouba, and I was very pleasantly surprised by her performance. I think she has a great possibility of having an impact during her freshman year."
This year's signees join a Phoenix team that is coming off a
4-11-3 campaign in 2009, including a 2-4-2 record in Horizon League play.
