GREEN BAY, Wis. - Daniel Pogue (Chisholm, Minn.), a
sophomore on the Green Bay men's swimming and diving team, has been named the
Horizon League Diver of the Week for the period of Feb. 1-7. The award is his
fourth of the season and the fifth of his career.
Pogue tallied victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter
diving events in Saturday's regular season finale at Milwaukee. His score of
319.73 on the low board was less than one point shy of his own school record of
320.25, set last season. From the 3-meter board, the sophomore posted an
impressive 321.30 to secure the win.
Both of Pogue's scores exceeded the NCAA standard to
participate in the Zone Diving Regional next month - an event he had already qualified
for earlier this season.
Pogue and the rest of the Green Bay men's and women's
swimmers and divers are gearing up to compete in the 2010 Horizon League
Championships, held Feb. 24-27 at UIC in Chicago. The women's squad is the
defending conference champion, while the men's team is aiming to improve upon
its fifth-place finish from a year ago.
