December 7, 2009 - Junior
midfielder J.C. Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named to the second team of
the year at Goal.com; a nationally known soccer website and magazine. Along
with Banks, 32 other players throughout the country have received first, second
and third team honors.
Banks led the Phoenix men's soccer team in goals (13),
assists (10), points (36) and shots (73) in Green Bay's impressive 14-3-3
season. He also led the Horizon League in shots, shots per game (3.65), points,
points per game (1.80), goals, goals per game (0.65) and assists before claiming
the program's first ever Horizon League Player of the Year award.
In November, Banks was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer's
Men's College Team of the Season. Banks was selected to the national second
team along with ten other players throughout the country.
For the first time in program history, the Green Bay men's
soccer team won the Horizon League Championship in which Banks was named to the
all-tournament team. Green Bay capped off their 2009 season with the team's
first trip to the NCA A tournament in 26 years.
