Nov. 2, 2009 - Green
Bay (12-2-2, 5-2-0) men's soccer junior midfielder David Prochazka (Gothenburg,
Sweden) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 men's
soccer team. Prochazka was selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports
Information Directors of America) for his performance both on the field as well
as in the classroom.
A business administration major, Prochazka has a 3.76 grade-point
average and played in the first 13 games for the Phoenix this season before
suffering an injury against Wisconsin on Oct. 14. Prochazka leads Green Bay and
the Horizon League with eight assists (0.62 per game) and is ranked seventh
nationally in assists per game.
In the last five years, Prochazka becomes the third player on
the men's soccer team to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
With the hopes of having Prochazka back in the line-up, the
Phoenix will play its final game of the regular season Saturday at 7 p.m. at
Loyola. The first round of the Horizon League Championship will kick off Nov.
10 followed by the semifinals on Nov. 13.
