Green Bay swimming and diving head coach Jim Merner announced the hiring of Dana Doute DeWitt as the program's assistant coach on June 19, 2012. DeWitt was a four-year standout for the Phoenix from 2004-08, helping Merner's women's squads to four consecutive Horizon League titles.

"I couldn't be more pleased that Dana has accepted the position of assistant swimming coach at Green Bay," Merner said. "She is passionate about our sport, very knowledgeable in terms of technique and motivation, and carries with her a highly competitive desire to be a winner. She is an excellent addition to our staff."

DeWitt, a native of Kiel, Wis., coached the girls swimming team at Sheboygan South High School, as well as the boys squad at Kiel High School from 2010-12. In addition, she was an assistant with the WAM Swim Club from 2010-12.

While swimming at Green Bay, DeWitt won an individual Horizon League championship as a sophomore in 2006 when she claimed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.24. She also still ranks in Green Bay's top-10 in both the 100 breaststroke (6th, 1:05.47, 2008) and 200 breaststroke (7th, 2:22.64, 2008).

DeWitt graduated from UW-Green Bay in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and human development, and went on to earn her master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport psychology from the University of Minnesota.
