GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – With perfect weather on their side, the Green Bay men's basketball program enjoyed its 2016 golf outing at Thornberry Creek at Oneida on Monday in successful fashion. Thanks to the generosity of over 130 supporters, the program raised over $90,000.
The event bested last year's total amount and saw a total of 33 teams participate. The money raised will directly benefit the men's basketball program and will allow them to do additional things that other programs across the country may not have the opportunity to do with travel, apparel, equipment and upgrades.
The money raised came from drawings, auctions, donations, sponsorships and the team foursomes. Auction items included an All-Access Gameday Experience, a Suite Trip to Madison, club tickets to the U.S. Open in 2017, tickets to a Duke Basketball game this season, tickets to the Wisconsin vs. LSU college football game at Lambeau Field and an Extreme Home Makeover.
“The cost of maintaining and improving our competitive program would not be possible without this event,” head coach Linc Darner said. “The continued and increased support for our program is amazing and we are so grateful for the generosity of our donors, fans and sponsors.”
