Green Bay Hosts In-State Rival Milwaukee on Saturday

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's basketball team is set to open the second half of its Horizon League slate this weekend, playing host to in-state rival Milwaukee in what will be the 10th league game of the 2015-16 season on Saturday at 1 p.m.

ABOUT MILWAUKEE

The Panthers enter the weekend matchup with an overall record of 12-8, a 6-3 mark in conference play and having won six of their last seven games. Most recently, Milwaukee defeat Oakland, 77-64, two days after the Golden Grizzlies brought Green Bay's 14-game winning streak to a halt. The Panthers receive double-digit scoring production from four players on the roster, all led by Sierra Ford-Washington who averages 13.7 points-per-game.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting a Hat and Mitten Drive on Saturday when the Phoenix takes on Milwaukee at the Kress Center. Phoenix student-athletes will be collecting your donated hats and mittens at each entrance. Donated items will be given to children in the Green Bay School District.

SERIES RECORD

Milwaukee: The all-time series between the two state rivals leans heavily in favor of Green Bay, with the Phoenix owning an overall record of 62-18 against the Panthers. In addition, Green Bay has claimed victories in 22 of the last 23 pairings.

WATCH/LISTEN: The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and streamed live on ESPN3, however, the ESPN3 stream will be blacked out in Green Bay. The matchup can also be heard on WNFL with Bruce VandenPlas bringing fans the call. Live stats will also be available to follow.

WHAT A WEEK

Sophomore Jessica Lindstrom had back-to-back career games last week, first scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds against Oakland, and then later topping that performance by pouring in 19 points and grabbing 13 boards against Detroit. Lindstrom finished the week with a 62.5% shooting percentage and tallied her third career double-double.

MIDWAY POINT

With nine league games under its belt and nine more remaining in the regular season, Green Bay is at the midway point of the Horizon League season. The Phoenix narrowly missed out on a perfect 9-0 start to the conference season, but instead will have to settle on an 8-1 midway-point conference record. Last year the Phoenix boasted a 7-1 record at the midway point, before finishing a perfect 8-0 down the stretch to win its 17th-straight conference championship.

IN-STATE STANDINGS

Green Bay has been dominating matchups with in-state rivals for quite some time, boasting an overall record of 108-45, a winning percentage of 70.6%, when taking the floor against its fellow division I teams from the state of Wisconsin. The Phoenix owns a record
