GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Now winners
of six straight games, the Green Bay women's basketball team (11-2, 1-0 HL)
will wrap up a three-game homestand as Wright State (7-7, 1-0 HL) comes to town.
Originally scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip, the game will be played at noon as part
of the Back-to-Back-to-Pack promotion. The Phoenix will look to win its 22nd-straight
matchup against the Raiders, and continue its streak of outstanding play from
its nationally third-best defense.
Green Bay is coming off one of the most dominant defensive
outings in program history, a 62-31 win against Detroit on Jan. 8. Green Bay
held Detroit to just 26.8 percent from the field, marking the fifth time an
opponent have failed to shoot better than 30 percent this season. The Titans'
31 points was the second-lowest total an opponent has scored against the
Phoenix in nearly 30 years, and the win also marked the ninth time in 13 games
this season an opponent has failed to reach 50 points.
In the win, senior Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) scored a game-high 19 points and
recorded a career-high seven steals, while the Phoenix held the nation's
second-leading scorer Shareeta Brown to just eight points on 2-of-4 shooting.
Wright State finishes up its Wisconsin road trip at
Green Bay after defeating Milwaukee 71-61 on Thursday. In the win, Horizon
League Preseason Player of the Year Kim Demmings scored 35 points on 13-20
shooting with a 5-of-10 mark from behind the arc.
WINNING
STREAK NOTES: Green Bay has won six games dating back to a 55-46 win at Marquette on
Dec. 8. During the streak, the Phoenix has held opponents to just 39.3 points
per game while winning by an average margin of 21.7 points. The Phoenix has
connected on 46.4 percent of its shots during the last six games and has
outscored opponents by a mark of 206-64 in the paint.
INSIDE THE SERIES: Green Bay is 48-3 all-time against Wright State,
including a 19-2 record under Kevin Borseth. The Phoenix has not lost to Wright
State since a road setback on Jan. 5, 2004.

Dec. 30, 1980
Green Bay travels to
Dayton, Ohio for the first matchup against Wright State in program history. The
Phoenix comes away with a 74-56 win.
Jan. 19, 1991
With a 1-1 record
all-time against Wright State, Green Bay plays the Raiders for the first time
in nearly 10 years and wins 83-50. The win sparks a 25-game winning streak for
Green Bay against the Raiders.
March 4, 1999
Green Bay and Wright
State Square off in the only neutral-site game between the two schools in
history as part of the 1998-99 MCC Tournament in Cleveland. Under first-year
head coach Kevin Borseth, the Phoenix wins 64-52 in the quarterfinal round.
Green Bay would eventually win the MCC Tournament Championship.
March 3, 2003
In the final Horizon
League matchup of the 2002-03 regular season, Green Bay's offense comes alive
in a 96-68 thrashing of the Raiders. The 96 points scored by the Phoenix tie
for the 10th-most points scored in a single game by Green Bay.
February 11, 2012
Rebounding from a loss to
Detroit just two days prior that snapped a program-best 40-game winning streak,
Green Bay defeats Wright State 64-59. Senior Julie Wojta scored nearly half of
the Phoenix's points with a career-high 30 points and a Kress Center-record 20
rebounds.
DOMINATING DEFENSE: Green Bay's defense ranks
third nationally in NCAA Division I statistic rankings released on Jan. 11,
allowing just 47.2 points per game. Ritchie leads the Horizon league with 3.2
steals per game, which is good for the 25th-best average in Division I. The
Phoenix has not allowed an opponent to score more than 46 points since a 54-50
loss at Central Michigan on Dec. 5.
